Think-Act
For Legal Work

Think-Act helps legal teams and legal operations work through scanned contracts, policies, clauses, notes, and long documents. Use it for OCR, summaries, issue lists, and drafting support; legal judgment stays with qualified professionals.

Always check the source document. Think-Act can prepare drafts and review aids, but it does not provide legal advice.

Available for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. macOS is planned.

Workflow pipeline

Add what your legal team has,
review what Think-Act gives back

Bring in a scanned agreement, policy document, clause note, or review memo, ask for the outcome your team needs, then check the result against the original before it is used, shared, or filed.

Step 01

Bring in the source material

Add a scanned agreement, policy document, contract screenshot, evidence note, or rough review memo. Keep the original available for comparison.

Step 02

Think-Act prepares the review draft

It extracts text, summarizes clauses, flags dates and obligations, builds an issue list, or drafts a non-final memo for qualified review.

Step 03

Review, use, and save

Compare the output with the source, correct citations and dates, then use only the reviewed version. If the process repeats, save it as a local skill.

Legal review workspace

Keep the source, legal draft, and review checkpoint in one view

The legal review workspace keeps the agreement, extracted terms, open issues, and prepared draft beside the checkpoint. Compare the source with the draft before anyone shares it, files it, or relies on it.

THINK-ACT · LEGAL REVIEW WORKSPACE

Source comparison stays part of the workflow, helping reviewers verify names, dates, obligations, cross-references, and unresolved questions before the draft is used.

Think-Act · OCR Extraction
OCR for legal documents

Turn scanned pages into workable text

Contracts and policies often arrive as scans or image-only PDFs. Think-Act can run OCR, pull out useful fields, and help you shape the result into notes or tables for review.

  • Convert scanned pages into text you can edit.
  • Extract dates, parties, obligations, and references.
  • Summarize sections before a full manual review.
  • Compare extracted content with your notes.
  • Prepare structured tables of key terms.

Write the first draft, then review it

Think-Act can help turn extracted text and rough notes into a memo, checklist, or follow-up email. The result is a starting draft, ready for a person to edit.

  • Draft summary memos from extracted text.
  • Rewrite clause explanations in plain language.
  • Prepare follow-up emails from document context.
  • Convert meeting notes into action items.
  • Format extracted content for internal review.

Your legal team stays in control

Preparation support is not authority to act

OCR, extraction, and drafting can stay separate from matter systems. Reading, changing, filing, sending, or approving requires the right connector, narrowly scoped access, and an explicit human checkpoint.

Review Security Controls
Legal workflow tasks, required access, and human review controls
Task Context Access Boundary Legal Checkpoint
OCR or summarize a clause
Only the provided file Verify every extracted fact against the source
Prepare an issue list or memo
No connector Authorized, matter-specific review
Read matter files
Scoped connector Limit access to the approved matter and source location
Update a DMS, CLM, or case system
Supported connector Preview the proposed change and confirm before write-back
Send a client or matter email
Email connector Check recipients, facts, attachments, and authorization
File, sign, approve, calculate deadlines, or reach legal conclusions
External access Keep these decisions human-owned

Exact capabilities depend on the tools and policies your organization enables. Missing access should stay explicit. Learn how reviewed automation and connector controls fit into the workflow.

Human Review Required

Think-Act helps with the work. It does not make the call

Treat Think-Act output as draft material. Extracted text should be checked against the source, summaries should be reviewed, and legal conclusions should remain with qualified professionals.

Verify extracted text

Compare it with the source document before relying on it.

Check citations, dates & deadlines

Confirm names, obligations, references, and every deadline independently.

Treat summaries as drafts

Do not treat generated text as legal advice without qualified professional review.

Security for legal documents

Confidential legal work needs careful handling

Set clear handling rules before using AI on client or matter material. Decide which endpoints are approved, which connectors are trusted, where source documents are retained, and who reviews output before anything is shared.

A local or private endpoint is one technical control. It does not itself guarantee privilege, confidentiality, data residency, retention compliance, or satisfaction of professional obligations.

Confidentiality Checklist

  • Confidential documents stay controlled Handle privileged, client, employee, and matter files under your organization's document and retention policies.
  • Approved endpoints only Use local or private endpoints where your policy requires them. Do not send confidential material to unapproved tools.
  • Review before sharing Read outputs before sharing them. Summaries can miss context or carry extraction mistakes.
  • Trust connectors deliberately Keep connectors disabled unless the task clearly needs them. Enable only approved connectors with the narrowest practical access.
  • Preserve source documents Keep original documents available for comparison. Do not rely only on extracted text.
  • Qualified review required Keep legal decisions with qualified professionals. Use the agent to assist, not decide.
Getting started

Try it on a
low-risk task first

Begin with review-support tasks on documents where the result is easy to check. Build confidence before using the workflow on sensitive or time-critical material.

Best first tasks to try

  • OCR a scanned agreement
  • Summarize a policy document
  • Extract key dates from a contract
  • Turn meeting notes into a review checklist
  • Draft a non-final summary
  • Record a routine review process

Step 02

Choose a low-risk document

Use a scanned agreement, policy, or review memo that your team can easily verify. Run OCR or a summary and inspect the output carefully.

Step 03

Verify the output against the source

Compare extracted text, dates, names, references, and obligations against the original. Correct mistakes before the output moves anywhere else.

Step 04

Make the useful parts repeatable

When a process works, record the steps. Reuse extraction, issue-list, and checklist guidance as a starting point, then review it for each new document and matter.

If Think-Act becomes part of your regular review workflow, upgrade to Pro or Business before you reach free-tier limits on larger document volumes.

FAQ

Common questions from legal teams

A few plain answers before you try Think-Act on legal documents. More product questions are covered on the full FAQ page.

Try Think-Act for Legal Work
Does Think-Act provide legal advice?

No. Think-Act supports extraction, summarization, drafting, and review workflows. It does not produce legal opinions or advice. All outputs are drafts that require review by a qualified legal professional before being used or shared.

Can it process scanned contracts and image-based PDFs?

Yes. Think-Act includes an OCR layer that can extract text from scanned and image-based legal documents, including older contracts that cannot be copied from a PDF viewer. Always verify extracted text against the original document, and review the OCR and document intelligence workflow before relying on it.

Should confidential client data go to cloud models?

Only if your organization's policy and the relevant data-handling rules explicitly allow it. For privileged or sensitive material, configure Think-Act to use a local or approved private endpoint. Review applicable professional-conduct and data-protection obligations, together with the Think-Act security guidance, before sending client material to a cloud model.

What does "first draft" mean for legal documents?

It means a starting point for qualified review, not a final document. Think-Act can produce a first-pass memo, summary, checklist, or clause rewrite that saves time getting to review-ready state. The professional reviewing it carries responsibility for the output that leaves the firm or goes to a client.

What is a reusable review skill?

A skill is saved guidance for a repeatable task, such as extracting parties and obligations from a standard commercial agreement. It can provide a consistent starting point, but every new document and matter still requires matter-specific review.

Does local or private processing guarantee confidentiality or privilege?

No. A local or private endpoint is one technical control. It does not by itself determine or guarantee privilege, confidentiality, data residency, retention compliance, or professional obligations. Your organization must decide whether a processing path is approved for the matter.

Is there a free tier for legal teams?

Yes. Think-Act is free to install and try. OCR, clause summaries, key term extraction, and basic drafting support are a good starting point. Upgrade to Pro or Business when document volumes increase or when team-wide workflows are needed.
