AI OCR & Document Intelligence

Turn scans, screenshots, receipts, invoices, and image-based PDFs into text you can edit, fields you can review, and answers you can use. Think-Act keeps the source close so important details are easy to check.

OCR output is a starting point, not a final answer. Extracted text, fields, and summaries should be reviewed against the source before being used for any important work. For reading-focused uses, see Think-Act’s accessibility and reading support.

Available for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. macOS is planned.

OCR & field extraction

The first layer is making text readable

OCR converts image content into editable text. Think-Act can also pull out fields such as names, dates, totals, obligations, and references, then arrange them in a structure that is easier to check and reuse.

  • Convert image text into editable, copyable content.
  • Extract names, dates, totals, obligations, and references from unstructured content.
  • Prepare draft tables from semi-structured documents like invoices and forms.
  • Move extracted text directly into writing, agent, or office workflows.
  • Preserve useful layout and structure where the original document allows it.
Document chat

Ask questions about the document.

After the text is extracted, ask for a summary, a deadline, a list of obligations, or a missing field. Check important answers against the original before using them.

Things you can ask

  • Summarize this contract in plain language.
  • What deadlines or renewal dates are mentioned?
  • List the obligations each party has.
  • Draft a follow-up email based on the action items.
  • What fields are missing from this form?

OCR and what comes next

Reading the pixels is only the first layer.

OCR makes document content editable. Document intelligence helps organize, question, summarize, and review that content before it moves into another workflow.

The extracted text

OCR result

Readable text extracted from the source

What raw OCR still requires

  • Meaning and context still need interpretation
  • Key fields need organization and validation
  • Specific answers must be found manually
  • Next steps must be prepared separately

Think-Act outputs

Organized output to check

  • Structured field draft
  • Document summary
  • Source-grounded answers
  • Next-step draft

What Think-Act adds

  • Editable drafts organized from the extracted content
  • The original source retained for comparison
  • Missing or uncertain fields surfaced for review
  • Checked document content prepared for follow-up work
Document workspace

Keep the source, extracted fields, and answers in one view

The document workspace keeps a scan, screenshot, receipt, invoice, or PDF beside the extracted text and output Think-Act prepared. Compare the source and result together before you copy, save, share, or approve anything.

THINK-ACT · DOCUMENT WORKSPACE
A focused workspace makes it easier to compare the original document with the extracted result and catch important names, dates, totals, obligations, or missing fields before using it.
Common documents & workflows

Useful across the document work you already do

Use the same read, extract, and review pattern for routine finance documents, contracts, forms, screenshots, and long reports.

Finance & accounting

Extract totals, line items, vendor names, and due dates from invoices and receipts. Prepare spreadsheet-ready output that can reduce manual re-entry after the values are checked. Explore finance workflows.

Legal & contracts

Summarize scanned contracts, surface key clauses and obligations, list deadlines, and flag terms that need specialist review. Output should always be reviewed by a qualified person. Explore legal workflows.

HR & operations

Process scanned forms, extract structured data for back-office workflows, clean up research notes, and turn printed intake forms into usable records. Explore operations workflows.

Screenshots & screen content

Copy a supported screenshot and extract its visible text. This is useful for error messages, UI content, web pages, or other images that contain information you need in editable form. See developer workflows.

Reports & multi-page documents

Feed in long reports, manuals, or multi-page PDFs. Ask for executive summaries, specific section extraction, or field-by-field output for further processing. Explore office workflows.

From document to finished draft

Use checked text and fields as context for an email, report, response, or summary in the Writing Assistant.

Validation & human review

Extraction saves time, but important details still need checking.

OCR can reduce manual retyping, but quality still depends on scan resolution, font clarity, and document layout. AI interpretation can also miss context. Compare any output used for an important decision against the original document.

Verify important details

Compare totals, dates, names, and legal terms with the original document.

Keep source documents

Preserve originals so extracted content can always be traced back to its source.

Review uncertain fields

Check low-confidence text, handwriting, and complex layouts before using the result.

Use approved endpoints

For sensitive documents, use private or local endpoints where your policy requires it.

Qualified review for high-stakes work

Treat regulatory, financial, and legal output as a draft until a qualified person approves it.

Approve actions before execution

Keep downstream changes and external actions manual until the extracted data is confirmed.

Connectors & automation

Understanding the document is where automation begins

After the extracted content has been checked, Think-Act can help prepare a follow-up in another tool or system. Whether it can perform that action depends on the connector you have enabled, its permissions, and your security policy. Learn more about repeatable task automation.

Document → Action pipeline

  • Document content OCR extracts text. The agent reads and understands what the document contains.
  • Preparing an action The agent can outline a follow-up and identify the tool or connector it would require. If that connector is unavailable, it reports the missing requirement instead of choosing another route.
  • Policy-controlled actions Write actions—sending, posting, modifying files, updating systems—follow the approval rules in your security policy. Keep sensitive or high-impact changes behind confirmation so they can be reviewed before execution.
  • Repeatable as a skill When a document process is stable, save it as a local skill. The next batch can follow the same checked steps instead of rebuilding the process each time.
  • Approved connectors only External system actions use connectors you have explicitly enabled. Whether an action is allowed, blocked, or requires confirmation depends on its configured permissions and your security policy.
FAQ

Common questions about document intelligence

Is OCR the same as document intelligence?

No. OCR converts image content into editable text. Document intelligence uses that text for summaries, field extraction, question answering, workflow support, and downstream automation. OCR is the first layer; document intelligence is what you build on top of it.

Can Think-Act process invoices and contracts?

Yes. It can extract and summarize content from both. High-stakes finance or legal output should always be reviewed by a qualified person before being used, posted, or shared. Think-Act prepares a draft; the final check stays with your team. See practical finance and legal workflows.

How accurate is OCR on scanned documents?

It depends on scan resolution, font clarity, document layout, and image quality. Extracted content should always be checked against the source. The output is a faster draft, not a guaranteed final value.

Can extracted data go into other systems?

Yes, when an approved connector exists and the action is enabled by policy. Review the integration requirements for the destination. The security policy determines whether a write action—posting, modifying files, or updating external records—is allowed, blocked, or requires confirmation.

Is there a free tier?

Yes. Think-Act is free to install and try. OCR, document summaries, field extraction, and basic document chat are good starting points. Upgrade to Pro or Business when document volume or team workflows require it.

How should sensitive documents be processed?

Use endpoints approved by your organization. Think-Act can use local or private endpoints where configured, and sensitive documents should not be sent to unapproved tools or services. Follow the storage, retention, and sharing policy that applies to the source document, and review the data-handling guidance before processing it.

Which operating systems support Think-Act?

Think-Act is currently available for 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11. A macOS version is planned, but the current download is for Windows. See the downloads page for current requirements.
